Stitch Fix has quickly become one of the best parts of my month. It is so exciting to come home and see that little brown box on my doorstep. I love the excitement of not knowing how everything will look, but most of all, I love that I can go to work or go out with my husband and feel confident in what I am wearing. As a mother who no longer weighs what I did in high school, confidence is a valuable commodity. Stitch Fix has given me that.
Stitch Fix is a clothing subscription box. You fill out a “style profile” with your sizes and preferences and a stylist is assigned to you. They choose five items that they think you will love and mail them to your door. You pay a $20 styling fee that will be applied to anything you decide to keep and shipping is free both ways. After trying the items on, you keep what you love and return the rest in a prepaid envelope. If you want to see some of the things I have received in the past, check out Subscription Boxes.
Here is what I was sent this month:
DIBA – JESSICA FLORAL PRINT WEDGES – $45
So these were a very similar pattern to a pair of flats I had pinned. Madeline could not get the flats this time so she sent these instead. I love the pattern, of course. The ankle strap was very tight though and I thought my feet looked strange with the cut of the back part of the shoe. These were a great idea, and I love a good pair of wedges. Hopefully those flats are available soon, though!
GILLI – TOM MAXI DRESS – $78
Again, this was very similar to another Gilli Maxi dress I had pinned. I actually like the colors on this one better. I am a sucker for anything light blue. I think I would have bought this in a size larger. The top half of the dress hugged a bit too tight for my liking. Plus my husband thought it looked like something I would wear when I was pregnant (thanks Jeremy!) so this obviously went back!
KUT FROM THE KLOTH – SIMMONS BOOTCUT JEAN – $88
I asked for a pair of boot cut jeans this fix. I recently went through my closet and donated anything I wasn’t wearing anymore (basically anything not stitch fix) and I noticed that I had only received skinny jeans in my fixes. This means I have nothing to wear with my cowboy boots when Jeremy and I go dancing. These boot cut jeans were exactly what I was wanting. As comfortable as my KUT skinnies and a great wash. Unfortunately, I think I guessed on my inseam when I filled out my profile and these were about 3 inches too long. It would be nice to say I would keep them and get them altered, but I know myself better than that. They would just sit in my closet…remaining their too long selves.
MOON AND SKY – ERROL CROCHET DETAIL TOP – $48
I love the fun colors of this top. The fit is nice and the crochet detail is a great touch. I almost kept this, until I realized there was a tear in the seam on the back. Now, I know I could have emailed customer service (stitch fix has the most amazing customer service who have already solved similar problems for me) but I just didn’t think this top was worth the hassle. It went to the post office this morning and I have no regrets (yet).
KENSIE – TAYAH BOYFRIEND BLAZER – 98
I have been begging Madeline for a boyfriend blazer (longer and looser than a normal blazer) since I started this service. She was finally able to snag me one and now I don’t know about the fit on me. I think this is one of those things that I love on other girls.
So there you have it…my very first 0/5 box. I returned everything and lost my styling fee this time. I know a lot of girls might be upset about that but I still had so much fun with this box. A lot of the issues were just a problem with the fit and I learned about my style preferences (without having to go to the mall and waste an entire day). I can’t wait to get my next box and I might even order it a bit early (since my wallet got a break on this one).
